Pixio: images, video & audio

Let your agents make images, video, music, and voice with your own Pixio account.

The Pixio connector lets your Machine agents generate images, video, and audio (music, voice, sound) through your own Pixio account. Ask for "a logo on a white background", "a six-second clip of this photo coming to life", or "a voiceover for this script", and the agent picks a model, checks the price, generates, and saves the result to your workspace.

It is Made by Machine: Machine built and runs the connector, and it uses your Pixio account and credits. Every project has it; nothing happens until you connect a key.

What you need

  • A Machine project you can edit connectors in.
  • A Pixio account with credits, or a plan that includes the models you want.
  • A Pixio API key. Keys start with pxio_live_.

Set it up

Create a Pixio API key

Open Pixio's Integrations page (sign in if asked) and create an API key. Copy it; Pixio shows it once.

Connect it in Machine

Open Connectors. At the top of the Discovery tab, under Made by Machine, choose Pixio, paste the key, and press Connect Pixio. Machine checks the key with Pixio first, then shows the account, plan, and credit balance.

In Machine Desktop, the same card is at the top of the Connectors panel's Marketplace tab.

Every agent in the project can use Pixio once it is connected. There is nothing to add to kortix.yaml.

How agents spend your credits

Generating costs Pixio credits, so agents follow the same steps every time:

  1. Pick a model by what you pay. Agents rank models by your account's own price, including plan discounts and daily free uses, and tell you which one they chose.
  2. Quote first. Before generating, the agent asks Pixio what the exact request will cost. Quotes are free.
  3. Ask before anything expensive. The agent tells you the cost of every paid run, and waits for your yes when a run is over 100 credits, is a paid video, 3D, or lip-sync run, is part of a batch, can't be priced exactly yet, or would use most of your balance. Give it a budget ("keep it under 200 credits") and it stays under it.
  4. Generate once. Each request carries an idempotency key, so a retry after a network blip returns the original job instead of charging you twice.
  5. Save the result. Pixio's download links expire after about a week, so the agent saves every result into the workspace (in media/ unless you name a folder) and tells you what it cost.

Editing your own files

To edit a photo or animate an image you already have, drop it into the session or the workspace and ask. The agent uploads it to Pixio through Machine (files up to 50 MB), so the key never enters the sandbox. For a longer video, share a public link instead.

Your key

  • Machine stores the key encrypted on its server. Agents call Pixio through Machine and never see the key, and it is never put in the sandbox.
  • Never paste the key into a chat. If you did, revoke it in Pixio and connect a new one.
  • Replace key in the Pixio card swaps in a new key. Disconnect removes it from Machine. Revoking the key in Pixio cuts off access everywhere at once; the card then shows Needs a new key.

What isn't supported

The connector covers generating, pricing, your assets, styles, the prompt optimizer (5 credits per call), and saved Pixio workflows. Pixio's in-app chat agent, Boards, Canvas, Cinema, the timeline editor, characters, and model training aren't available through it.

Troubleshooting

  • No Pixio card on the Connectors page. It sits at the top of the Discovery tab, and hides while you search or browse one category.
  • "Pixio did not accept that key." The key was copied incompletely or has been revoked. Create a new one in Pixio.
  • The agent says you're out of credits. It reports how many the run needs and how many you have. Top up in Pixio, or ask for a cheaper model.
  • "Too many jobs running." Your Pixio plan limits how many generations run at once, across every key on the account. The agent waits for the running job and tries again.
